Cathy & Eldon Smith give $50,000 gift to Partners in Caring Campaign

Arnprior, ON, February 28, 2007 – Long time community members, Cathy and Eldon Smith, owners of Boyce Funeral Home demonstrated their community leadership by donating $50,000 to the Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital’s Partners in Caring Campaign.

Eldon, who was born at ADMH, jokes that he was the first baby born in the hospital. Cathy, a registered nurse, who moved to Arnprior when she was 5 days old, has a strong connection to the hospital as well. All three of Cathy and Eldon’s children were born at ADMH. Cathy worked at the hospital in the early 70’s and, at that time the Smith family lived across the street from the hospital.

Their son, Bob, who is also a Licensed Funeral Director and organizes the Prior Ground Pound Car and Truck Show, works at the Funeral Home with his parents.

The Smith Family believe strongly that the renovation project for the Emergency Department has been a long time coming and “will be a very good thing for the growth of Arnprior…. This community has been good to us and we feel it’s important to give back.”

The Boyce Funeral Home, established in 1908 will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next year.
